Judges and Judging procedures

Selection criteria

The Jury / panel will evaluate applicants work according to the following criteria:

  • Conceptual originality of the creative work

  • Apparent creativity and innovation of the creative practice

  • Overall set up and finish of the work

First Round (6th Oct to 25th Oct, 2023): Nominators from selected art institutions are invited to propose 2 outstanding graduates or recent graduates based upon exceptional achievements. A panel of 8 jurors will review the submissions and narrow them down to a selection of 30 finalists.  

 

Second Round (26th Oct to 25th Nov, 2023): As the one of the six final judges, you will be invited to review the final 30 portfolios with guidelines provided by us to help facilitate the judging process. (Please note that the rubrics assessment form is primarily utilised as a reference tool only to assist panelists in evaluating and judging. The final determination of the award is based on the judges' expertise.)

  

Third Round (18th and 19th Dec, 2023):  six final judges will be invited to Hong Kong (or online) to select the first, second, and third prizes of Art Futures during the shortlisted artists exhibition and award ceremony in 20 December 2023, at AVA Gallery, Kai Tak Campus, Hong Kong Baptist University

The nomination process will involve three rounds

Announcements

Announcement: 6 Art Futures shortlisted artists and the two Hong Kong prizes will be announced in late November 2023

Prizes Announcement: First Prize (one winner), Second Prize (two Winners), Third Prize (3 winners), will be announced in the Award ceremony in 20 December 2023

First Round Judges

A panel of 8 jurors will review all submissions and select the portfolios of 30 nominees for the second round. 

Final Round Judges

A panel of 6 jurors will review portfolios of 30 finalists and select 6 shortlisted artists.
